Finding it through technological means makes it harder, but funner!

It’s time again for the annual SAINTCON Fox Hunt. We will have two competitions this year.

The first will be a beginners Fox hunt where we will hide beacons throughout the SAINTCON Conference.

The second will be more of an advanced Fox Hunt which will take place outside on the streets of Provo.

Transmitter hunting (also known as T-hunting, fox hunting, bunny hunting, and bunny chasing), is an activity wherein participants use radio direction finding techniques to locate one or more radio transmitters hidden within a designated search area.

Each Beacon resides on a frequency and will be transmitting morse code. It is up to you to find them using Ham Radio, Software Defined Radio (SDR) or other means.

Everything you need to know…

How to play:

For the Easy Fox Hunt just come to the Fox Hunt booth and we will give you a list of frequencies and when you find the beacon just take a picture of it with you.

For the advanced fox hunt we will give you one beacon frequency. Once you find the beacon it will give you the next frequency and so on. There will be four beacons total. Once you find the final beacon it will be broadcasting a message in morse code. Once you translate the code come back to the Fox hunt booth for confirmation.
