If you can no longer attend, you can transfer your registration to someone else. The transfer is self-service and there is no fee.
The short version
- Go to the transfer tool at register.saintcon.org/transfer.
- Enter both the current and future registrant email addresses on this page and submit the form.
- Have the current registrant check their email and click the link to authorize the transfer.
- Have the new registrant check their email and click the link to begin registration.
- Have the new registrant complete the registration form.
- The system emails the new registrant their QR code. That QR code is what they need at the registration desk.
You can only transfer a registration that already exists. If you were given a prepaid registration code from a bulk purchase, redeem it first so you have a registration to transfer. See Registration for how to redeem a code.
Who can transfer
Anyone holding a standard paid SAINTCON registration. The new attendee does not have to work at the same organization as you.
Some registrations can’t be transferred at all:
- Discounted registrations.
- Scholarship, volunteer, and staff passes, and anything else registered with a code SAINTCON issued directly. These are issued in one person’s name and cannot be moved to anyone else.
- Sponsor, speaker, and trainer passes.
If you hold one of these and can’t attend, email registration@saintcon.org so the seat can be reallocated. Do not give your registration to someone else directly.
What transfers and what does not
The transfer moves your registration to a new person. It does not move:
- Hotel bookings. Rooms are booked separately, under the attendee’s own name. The new attendee has to book their own room, or book in the room block if it is still open.
- Scholarship awards. A scholarship cannot be given to anyone else. If you can’t attend, email registration@saintcon.org so the seat can be reallocated.
- Training enrollment. Trainings are paid additions to a base ticket. If the new attendee does not want the same class, the training fee may not transfer. Email registration@saintcon.org before you start the transfer if a training class is attached.
- Sponsor, speaker, and trainer benefits. These passes cannot be moved with the self-service tool.
Deadlines
There is no cutoff date. Self-service transfers stay open, including on-site during the conference. On-site requests go through the same transfer tool rather than being processed at the registration desk.
Transferring close to the conference does affect the badge, because badges are printed in advance. See Name on the badge.
Name on the badge
The badge prints the registration name. If the transfer goes through before badge printing (typically the week before the conference), the badge will be printed under the new attendee’s name. Late transfers may result in a badge with the original name. The registration desk can issue a name correction at check-in if needed.
Refunds (Cancellation) vs. Transfers
A transfer sends a different person to the conference in your place and the ticket is not refunded. A refund returns the ticket price to your card and releases the seat.
Refunds are only available up to 28 days before the conference starts, less a transaction fee. Cancel 27 or fewer days out and there is no refund. Discount tickets are never refundable. Transfers have no such deadline. The full terms are in the Cancellation Policy.
If self-service doesn’t work
Common reasons self-service fails:
- One of the two authorization emails did not arrive, or went to a spam folder.
- The email address entered does not match the one on the current registration.
- The registration is one of the non-transferable types listed above.
