Shaun currently labors as a Solutions Engineer in the Infosec space. Having labored for the past decade in healthcare Infosec, he's been involved in everything from bootstrapping security programs from the ground up to leading incident response and blue team operations for large multi-national organizations. He earned a bachelors degree in network administration and security from Utah Valley University where he concurrently spent 10 years at Novell / SuSE working as a global escalation engineer performing LAN/WAN analysis for customers around the globe. His focus has now shifted to exploring new security solutions, bridging the gap between security and usability, evangelizing an attitude of continuous improvement, and architecting transformative information security programs.

Former presentations include: SAINTCON, BSidesSLC, BSides Red Rocks, OpenWest, 801 Labs, and Novell's Brainshare. Most recently, he was on the conference badge team with his best friends at SAINTCON putting out fires, building infrastructure, and burning off his fingerprints while repairing badges.

He enjoys tinkering, building, mountain biking, driving fast cars, and has VERY strong opinions about network segmentation. He can often be found dumpster diving outside of IT recycling shops, collecting red tool boxes, evangelizing the concept of Shu Ha Ri, and hoarding optical cables like an angry raccoon.
